There's been a stir in the UK with two big brands being "caught" doing... something legal and normal.
One of the services we offer at Maudlin Merchandise that is most popular on the market is personalised (printed) labels. Well, we use garments from promotional brands such as TH Clothes, Kariban or Gildan to print our clients' branding on them and then remove the label from the original T-shirt to apply a personalised one.
Normal, then. A perfectly legal system, as confirmed by the brands themselves (which simplify this process by using removable labels).
.
As it happens, there is currently a controversy in the UK because two clothing brands (Boohoo and Pretty Little Things) have been caught charging hundreds of pounds for Gildan and Fruit of the Loom clothes.)
This controversy stems from a video filmed by someone outside a print shop, which shows a series of labels on the floor and boxes of T-shirts (from the aforementioned brands) inside the warehouse.

.
We've spoken here before about a controversy with Kanye West doing exactly the same thing, opening Pop Up shops and selling his brand's clothes (keeping the brands' original labels) for absurd amounts of money.
.
Curiously, this is something that happens more often than we think. In fact, even in Portugal we have well-known brands for which we pay a lot of money doing precisely the same thing, and there are even situations where we have the same clothes in the catalogue as these brands have in the shop.
.
Personally, I think this is fantastic. It's an incredible demonstration of how important marketing is for a clothing brand.
What differentiates Supreme or Superdry from your brand? At the end of the day, they all wear the same clothes and the same screen printing or direct printing. The differentiation lies in the marketing and how much money is invested in selling the clothes.

Controversies aside, if you're looking to make personalised T-shirts with - or without - personalised labels, talk to us and launch your own clothing brand.
