What should you avoid at all costs in order to wear a polo shirt with style? Let's help!

.
1) Don't wear a T-shirt or vest underneath!
The polo shirt should be worn as a single layer and a T-shirt or vest will only add excess volume and even risk peeking out of the neckline, so... if you do wear one, choose at least one where the neckline isn't visible!
.
2) Layered polo shirts are forbidden! Just one pole at a time, please!
.
3) Don't wear your polo collar up, Eric Cantona style, like in the past!
Fortunately, this trend has fallen out of favour, but if you're tempted, our suggestion is not to do it! You'll come across as a geek and that's certainly not what you want. If it's for specific, short-term situations, such as protecting your neck from the sun, feel free!
.
4) Avoid polo shirts with pockets unless they allow you to be safe!
A pocket on the chest of the polo may indeed add some visual interest and disruption, but it will rarely be worn and the tendency is for it to sag and deform over time, detracting from its sharpness. Therefore, avoid pockets in general, with the exception of those that have flaps and are fastened with a button to remain closed.
.
5) Don't wear polo shirts with huge logos!
Despite being one of the brand images of some of the best-known brands of the moment, if you can find polo shirts without a logo or with logos that are reasonably sized and tasteful, don't hesitate, because they're always a better option!
6) Don't wear long-sleeved polo shirts!
Although there are long-sleeved polos for sale, the heritage of the polo is that of a short-sleeved garment for hot climates and physical activity; and rolling up the sleeves may look funny, but it completely distorts its DNA.
7) Don't wear a sports polo shirt casually!
Wear an athletic polo shirt for casual wear. Polos designed for sports such as golf or tennis are made from synthetic materials and cut to facilitate movement. They're great for the course or the courts, but they shouldn't be used outside of them.

What rules should you follow religiously to wear a polo shirt with style?
_______________________________________________________________________
.
1) Always button at least one of the buttons!
Having all the buttons unbuttoned gives a somewhat "sloppy" look, while having them buttoned considerably changes the look of the polo shirt, conveying a somewhat unusual image, but if that's the look you're looking for, don't hesitate!
.
2) Feel free to wear the polo inside or out, depending on the occasion.
There isn't really a rule, as it works perfectly both ways. Of course, if it's on the inside it projects a more formal image, while on the outside it's more informal and casual. Important note: if your polo shirt is longer at the back than at the front, it's because it was designed to be worn inside.
.
3) Have a core collection of basic, solid colours.
Classic colours like blue, black and white never fail. Polos with stripes or contrasting colours on the sleeve bands and/or collar aren't always a bad choice, but they are more casual, so make sure you choose according to the occasion.
.
4) Expand the collection to more vibrant and interesting colours.
As a complement to the basic colours, include more "bright" and different colours in your wardrobe, such as pinks, purples, reds or greens.
