According to historical records, the first protective head accessories appeared around 4,000 BC in Greece, Babylon and Ancient Egypt, when headbands were used to protect and at the same time secure the hair.<\/p>\n\n

A little later, accessories such as crowns, turbans and tiaras appeared and were worn by warriors, nobles and priests as a symbol of professional and social status, remaining so to this day.<\/p>\n\n

The first hat to be worn in human history was called P\u00e9taso,<\/strong> around the year two thousand BC. Its main distinguishing features were its wide brims and low crown, which the Greeks wore while travelling as a form of protection. It was a type of adjustable hat that was very practical and could be removed easily, and its use lasted throughout the Middle Ages in Europe.<\/p>\n\n

Around the year 1,000 in Ancient Rome, slaves were forbidden to wear hats, but as a curiosity, when they were freed, they wore a kind of cone-shaped cap with a drooping tip, which symbolised freedom.<\/p>\n\n

This same model would later be reused during the French Revolution, which took place at the end of the 17th century, being called the \"Bonnet Rouge\" and eventually becoming a true symbol of the Republican Party.<\/p>\n\n

Not far removed from today's models, the cap in \"buds\" or \"stitched parts\" began to be used by a British butcher around 1800 and was catapulted into the limelight through sport, particularly baseball.<\/p>\n\n

In 1889, Albert G. Spalding, a famous American baseball player, produced a book with instructions for players of the sport, in which photographs of himself wearing caps predominated.
