Why SCREEN PRINTING to personalize my clothes?

Screen printing is a printing technique that involves transferring an image through a mesh or screen matrix stretched over a frame. An ink is applied to the surface of the screen and is forced through the openings in the mesh onto the printing surface using a squeegee or spatula.

How does it work?

One of these structures is needed for each color that will be used, and all the frames together will form the final image to be transferred onto your clothing.

A photosensitive emulsion is used on each frame, and it will pass under ultraviolet light to harden the part of the mesh that will not allow ink to pass through.

This technique is not yet 100% automated; there is a craft component to it! A partnership that makes the final result almost perfect, making the screen printing technique one of the most chosen for customizing clothing.

Screen printing is a technique widely used by us, Maudlin, and by many printing companies on various items such as canvas bags, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and different surfaces besides fabric, such as plastic, glass, metal, and paper. It is primarily chosen for large-scale productions.

Is there any difference between screen printing on light fabrics and dark fabrics?

Yes, there is a difference. Although they share many basic techniques, there are important differences that must be considered.

One of the main differences is how the inks are applied to the fabric. In screen printing on light fabrics, the ink is applied directly to the fabric, while on dark fabrics, it's necessary to apply a layer of white ink as a base for the color ink application – without this base, the colors can appear faded and less visible.

But why choose this technique at Maudlin to personalize my clothes?

  • Good quality-price ratio: It is a fairly inexpensive technique considering its excellent quality.
  • Up to 6-color images can be chosen: It is not a method limited to one color. Ideal for companies whose logo has more than one tone.
  • It is quite durable: It's not the kind of printing that fades away after the first washes; it withstands several years of frequent washing without losing color.

We have experienced and qualified technicians: Although it is a relatively simple technique, it requires technical knowledge to produce consistent and high-quality results. The preparation of screens, the choice of inks, the application of the appropriate pressure, and the control of temperature and humidity are examples of factors that directly affect the quality of the print and are factors that our technicians pay maximum attention to.

Now that you know a little better how screen printing works and what its main advantages are, what are you waiting for to place a customization order with us?
